About The Author: Ramakrishna (1836–1886), also known as Ramakrishna Paramahansa, was a revered Indian Hindu mystic, known for his profound spiritual experiences and his advocacy for the unity of all religions. Born in Kamarpukur, Bengal, he practiced diverse religious traditions, including Vaishnavism, Tantric Shaktism, Advaita Vedanta, and aspects of Christianity and Islam. He famously declared that all religions are paths to the same God. Serving as the priest at the Dakshineshwar Kali Temple, he had transformative spiritual visions and attracted followers, including his chief disciple, Swami Vivekananda, who later popularized his teachings globally. Ramakrishna passed away in 1886 and Mahendranath Gupta (1854–1932) also known as Shri or Master Mahashay, was a devoted disciple of Ramakrishna and a revered Bengali mystic. He is best known for authoring Sri Sri Ramakrishna Kathamrita (The Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna), a classic Bengali work that captures Ramakrishna’s teachings, which Gupta meticulously recorded from 1882.
